His is for a pair of pristine Thermoplastic Union Wall Frames, circa 1860s. Perfect for your daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tin types, CDVs, or civil war photos! The frames measure 4 x 6, and image size is 2 1/4 x 3 1/2.
Although Berg notes the image opening to be 1/6 plate, I noticed that similar wall frames were depicted in the quarter plate category. Please see picture of one quarter plate Berg scan compared to this frame. No discernible cracks or chips, these two frames are beautiful and rare finds. Please note that I listed the frames as gutta percha, but this is in name only... These frames were never made from gutta percha; they were exclusively made from thermoplastic materials. At one point in its life, someone carved the name ANDRE CHAPITEL in the back, along with the date'45, but I don't believe this to detract from the frame whatsoever.
I tried to capture this in a photo so you can judge for yourself. I consider the photos to be part of the description so please view them accordingly.Low start price and no reserve.
