Antique Civil War Miniature Tin Types & CDV's Photo Album / 37 Photos

  
A piece of our history during a very pivotal time in the U. The album consists of 37 photographs both in tintype and CDV's. Many of the photographs have names on them, one of which is Emma Tate.

Tate was born on 11 March 1871, in Tate, Pickens, Georgia, United States, her father, Col Stephen Clayton Tate, was 38 and her mother, Eliza Dora Buffington, was 28. She married Alexander Stevens Hinton in 1893, in Pickens, Georgia, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters.

She lived in District 925, Chattooga, Georgia, United States in 1900 and Summerville, Chattooga, Georgia, United States in 1910. She died on 8 November 1922, in Tate, Pickens, Georgia, United States, at the age of 51, and was buried in Old Tate Cemetery, Tate, Pickens, Georgia, United States. The other image shows a vintage Carte de Visite (CDV) photograph, likely dating from the 1860s, featuring a portrait of an elderly man (white hair). Based on similar historical portraits, the man in the image resembles figures such as industrialist Erastus Corning or religious leader John Taylor. This would be a fun project for the new owner to research.
