CDV Civil War Col. Edwin Rose, 81st New York Infantry, Gray's Gallery, Oswego NY

  

A Colonel From The 81st New York Infantry. Born in Bridgehampton, Long Island, New York in 1807, Col. Edwin Rose attended West Point in 1830. He became colonel of the 81st New York Infantry in September 1861.

In the heat of July 1862, because of exposure and fatigue around Chickahominy he was discharged for disability. His service continued as the Provost Marshall of New York from 1862 until his death in 1864.
