1929 was a noted American photographer of the second half of the 19th century, most noted for his extensive early photography of the Gettysburg Battlefield and the borough of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. After the Battle of Gettysburg Tipton allegedly helped Mathew Brady. Tipton had a road (Sickles Avenue/Crawford Avenue) running through the Devil's Den area, which tourists used to drive through in the late 19th and early 20th centuries before.
