Subjects: Husband and wife seated together, formal pose. Hand Tinting: Subtle coloring visible on cheeks and clothing.
Case: Original mid-19th century leather-covered case with embossed design, gilt brass mat & preserver, working clasp, and velvet pad opposite the image. Condition: Very good antique condition. Plate has typical tarnish halo around edges, but the image is clear and displays beautifully. Case shows light exterior wear consistent with age but remains complete and intact. True daguerreotypes are much scarcer than ambrotypes or tintypes.
Each image is one of a kind - no negatives were used. Couple portraits in original cases are highly sought after. A strong display-ready example for any Civil War era or 19th-century photography collection.###128270; A museum-quality mid-19th century daguerreotype - investment-grade and highly collectible.
