We have just acquired a massive collection of early photographic images from the estate of a New York doctor. For the past 60 years, he bought and acquired images from antique shops, flea markets and privately, through acquaintances. There are thousands of images that include daguerreotypes, ambro types, tintypes, CDVs, cabinet cards and union cases. These images are fresh to the market, untouched and exactly the way we received them.

We hope you enjoy them as much as the doctor did. Here is a very unusual cased sixth plate image of a seated Union Civil War officer smoking a long, curled stem hooka pipe. This cocky-looking officer has a turned-up hat, open jacket and a serious facial expression. The image is clean and crisp. The case is embossed with a pheasant and grapes on the front and the back has geometric designs.
