Sedgwick was killed by a rebel sharpshooter at the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse in 1864. He is often remembered for his ironic last words of, "They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance". The CDV is in very nice original condition exhibiting some light soiling and period wear.
The image is nice and clear and General Sedgwick is wearing some sort of medal on his left chest. The image is identified in period ink on card below image.
The back of the photo also has Sedgwick's name written twice, once in period pen and once in period pencil. The image is back marked by E & H. Anthony (Brady) of New York. Guaranteed 100% authentic in every regard.
