Ross served with the 4th Wisconsin Infantry before the regiment was renamed and to the 4th Wisconsin Cavalry. Ross served his time in and out of the service. The identified image was taken in New Orleans, Louisiana, by E. Jacobs while the second image has no backmark or inscription. I think the second image is of Ross also but say a year or two later, maybe even after his discharge from the Union Army.

Both images came together so both will sell together. Those in the know or with more research information can prove or disprove my theory. Please feel free to ask questions. Please judge the condition by the posted photo. Please take a look at my other auctions for more goodies.
