Original 1/2 plate ruby glass ambrotype of a Civil War. Confederate soldier holding a carbine by his side wearing a McElroy Bowie knife at his left side high, and typical Confederate cap pouch at his right side. A Colt is stuck in th front of his belt. He holds his slouch hat in his left hand.

This is a Georgia cavalry soldier. This image will publish in a upcoming north south trader article attributing to McElroy made items.

Having a soldier pictured with one of these bowies is rarely encountered. Housed in a very nice full leather case. Aging discoloration as can be seen in photos, but not effecting any important parts of the image. No identification, but was found in Marietta GA and has a newspaper clip discussing Gov. Brown, and the Western Atlantic Railroad.

Any confederate 1/2 plate size ruby image is scarce. The McElroy Bowie is clear on his side...
