We are offering a 1/6 plate ambrotype photograph of a Civil War Drummer Boy whom we believe may be John "Johnny" Lincoln Clem. Photo is in a Union Case by S. With a patriotic/military motif, with American flags, cannons and cannon balls. We believe this may be John Lincoln Clem as he bears a strong resemblance to known photographs of him, although in those photographs he is slightly older than in our photo.
We believe this photograph is probably at the young age of 10. He served in the military until he retired in 1915, where he had come up the ranks eventually attaining the rank of Brigadier General. He was the last veteran of the American Civil War still on duty in the Armed Forces at the time of his retirement. CONDITION: The ambrotype is in Beautiful Condition.
The case is in Excellent++ Condition, snaps shut tightly. Brass frame and mat also Excellent++.
