Very rare and important Civil War CDV of an identified Gettysburg battle amputee! His name was Norman Crafts of the 147th New York volunteers. He was wounded in action on July 1st, 1863. He then entered Company "K" Veteran Reserve Corps [VRC] 12th regiment on February 6, 1864. Not only is this image important from a content and ID perspective, but is back marked From Lobell General Hospital, U. " This CDV came from a Portsmouth Grove album with the title page inscribed, "The property of Miss. Strout nurse at Hospital at Portsmouth Grove, Rhode Island at the time of the Civil War 1863.
