For your consideration is this large lot including.31 carte-de-visite photographs, most with back-marks from local Owego studios, 6 of them with the subject IDd, one photo is of a dog from Coburn's studio (very uncommon). 35 cabinet cards including 3 of women in costume that are just unbelievably rare. Of the Owego Female Seminary known then as McNall Seminary, the girls school run by Belva McNall. The woman who would become Belva Lockwood after her time in Owego, a presidential candidate in 1884.
This stereoview is so rare as to be possibly unique. The building was moved off the spot after 1865 and another built in its place in the 1870s. This very photo was actually used in a book about Owego schools by Emma Sedore. One gem tintype in paper frame back-stamped by a studio and with the subject IDd.
3 snapshots of the 1936 flood. 4 mounted photos: one of the long gone Owego Bridge in 1902, one of a fancy Owego carriage hand-signed by the photographer F. Corey Owego, NY, (who is listed as the stenographer t First National Bank in Owego); one of three siblings from the obscure Tuthill studio, and one portrait in a folder of a man. 42 postcards: 4 of them an early 20th c card showing the house that was recently renovated. And opened as Belva Lockwood Inn, one showing a circa 1950 interior view of the same building as Eagles Home after its mid-century renovation, 3 plain mailing cards, 12 real photo cards (rppc) from all over town including bridges and historic buildings, the remainder a mix of Victorian cards up to mid-century linens.
Some duplicates, all tough to find now especially the photo cards. 22 certificate / tickets for E. Robertson at 194 Front Street, to be redeemed for cut glass premiums. Envelope with 2 CDV photos and hand-written genealogy related to the photos. 6 early cancels, all but one containing an actual handwritten letter.
These date from mid to late 19th century. The one envelope that is empty is from the office of C. The best is a 20 page letter written in Owego on July 15th 1863 discussing the war and army operations, a beautiful and valuable piece of correspondence.

1880s autograph book with many names from Owego, a full book with blue velvet covers and many die-cuts tipped in. 1906 FRIENDSHIP LODGE blue book from OWEGO.A full 1897,98,99 slender red leather cover (memorandum book) diary of a young girl named May Estelle Kempson that includes town news and gossip including a boy struck by lightning on a roof. An oval photograph of one girl mentioned in the diary, Bessie Gere, is laid in. This is an outstanding piece of about 100 pages of content and the book ends on December 31, 1899 - right at the end of the Victorian century. A rough but intact (missing rear cover) 1951 CHARTER OF THE VILLAGE OF OWEGO with many signatures on it, published in 1875, 92 pages plus index. February 1859 THE HORTICULTURIST Journal of Rural Art, not published in Owego but has a note laid in to the effect that it was found in a bureau on the Pumpelly Estate in Owego. The Owego Times paper from October 22, 1868. Book the WHITE PINE series of architectural monographs which features Greek Revival homes in Owego. I also have two more items.
