Sixth plate ruby ambrotype of soldier in Company "B", 12th New Hampshire Volunteers. Charles Joyce did some research and found out that this is Charles W. Dow who died of typhoid fever 6 days after the Battle of Fredericksburg, while the 12th was camped at Falmouth for the winter. The 12th NHV was heavily engaged at the Battle of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Image has some very minor swiping, but clear. Comes in a half case. I reversed the image of his cap so you could see the letters, etc. The item "Civil War Ambrotype of New Hampshire Vol. Who died of disease in winter camp" is in sale since Sunday, November 3, 2019.
