Superb and rare 1863 albumen stereoview of a grim scene taken in the "Wheat Field opposite our Extreme Left, at Battle of Gettysburg " taken by Timothy O'Sullivan and published by Alexander Gardner as part of the legendary " Photographic Incidents of The War" series. One of a group of iconic images that the Irish-born O'Sullivan made less than 48 hours after the raging battle ended. Frassanito dates the image to July 5 , 1863 and states that it was taken towards Seminary Ridge. A very rare Civil War photograph taken by arguably one of the most important photographers in 19th century America. Guaranteed to be an ORIGINAL taken 1863 albumen stereoview by Timothy O'Sullivan.
