Second Michigan Infantry autographed pair. Albert Newkirk signed 2nd Michigan Infantry brown book. Newkirk wrote his service history in the inside front.

He was an Andersonville prisoner of war. The brown books were made for Michigan Civil War Veterans. Each regiment had it own brown book. Also in the group an 1880's to 1890's John J Scanlan signed cabinet card.

Scanlan's Find-A-Grave with his obituary are posted with the listing. Scanlan was a member of the 2nd Michigan Infantry during the American Civil War. The 2nd was famous for having a woman who enlisted and served as a man. The regiment also had Civil War decorated nurse Anna Etheridge. She was one of two women to receive the Kearny Cross.

Both women have Wikipedia entries. Scanlan enlisted in the US Navy after his 2nd Michigan Infantry service. He was a member of Fairbanks GAR post in Detroit.

Heavy smoking lead to Scanlan's tongue cancer death. The brown book bios for Newkirk, Scanlan and Sarah Edmunds are shown in the listing. The brown book shows both names for Sarah. It's listed alphabetically by her alias Franklin Thompson.

The brown book has no major condition issues. Stains, toning, minor tears and wear.
