Civil War Ambrotype or Tintype of a soldier. The cover for the case is missing. There is gold paint on hat and buttons. Stripes on arms and legs also hand painted. Has a light redish over light white coloring.

Looking closely with a loupe you can see dust particles on what looks like the inner side of the glass. Someone just emailed me an offer and said this is not a civil war uniform but was issued after the war.

He further commented the Indian or Spanish wars. However researching does not show that uniform.
