ID'd Civil War CDV Capt. Samuel Bolton, 34th New Jersey Inf.

For sale is an identified CDV of Captain Samuel Henry Bolton B: 1841; D: Sep. K, 34th New Jersey Infantry. Before enlisting, Bolton, a native of Bridgeton, Cumberland Co. Had been a cadet at the Delaware Military Academy for two years (presumably 1859 thru 1861). In 1862, he was admitted to the United States Military Academy at West Point but "resigned to enter Volunteer Service" a short time after his admittance. 5, 1863, Bolton enlisted and was commissioned as Capt. The regiment served with the Army of the Tennessee from Dec. 1864, the Army of the Cumberland from Jan. 1865, then with Army and Dept. Of the Gulf, where it continued its organization and remained in active service for one year after the close of the [Civil] War. Mary's Hospital in Montgomery. Bolton was transported from Montgomery to Bridgeton, where he was buried on Oct.
