Private Lathrop W Ladd was a farmer from Cedar Falls, Iowa who enlisted in B Company, 31st Iowa Volunteers- On enlisting he was so large a custom made uniform was required. Private Ladd served 6 months before dying of disease at Memphis, Tennessee in 1863. A full standing view of Private Ladd still wearing his civilian suit- he appears to stand near 7 ft tall. Both the front and reverse mat bear the photo imprint of DC Williams, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Comes w service info- Pvt Ladd is buried in the Mississippi River National Cemetery at Memphis.
