This is an original photo by Timothy O'Sullivan and Alexander Gardner of an encampment at Gettysburg in July, 1863. It's a great photo. Some of the photos make it look darker than it is. It was in Gardners Photographic Sketchbook of the War Vol 1. Another copy of this photo can be found at MOMA. Another sheet has the details of the photo stating that this was taken from high up Missionary Ridge. Photo is copyrighted by Alexander Gardner in 1865. The photo is in good shape.

However there are losses around the boarder of the mount. The losses can be matted out. These are rare Civil War photos as the book wasn't that popular.

Gardner worked with Matthew Brady but generally wasn't given credit for his work.
