The 115th New York Volunteers organized at Fonda, NY served 3 years, with a long list of battles, suffering heavy losses incl capture of the entire regiment at the fall of Harper's Ferry, Virginia, also many killed and wounded at the Battle of Olustee, Florida and at Chester Station & Deep Bottom Va, and Fort Fisher, North Carolina. An Original Civil War Commission for Captain Thomas Wayne, of Amsterdam, NY, October 1864 issued and signed by NY Governor Horatio Seymour. The 14 x 12 ptd/ink commission on vellum bears the NY State Seal and has an affixed red seal of the State. Comes w service info-Captain Wayne served 1862 to the end of February 1865 when, broken down by the War he was discharged disabled. Age stains, acid free archival repairs to two 1/2 holes in lower center, edge wear, and some fading to the ink inscriptions but easily legible.
