Named Union Civil War Sergeant 1/6 Plate Ambrotype Full Case No Reserve

  

This ambrotype comes in a full gutta percha case which is also in excellent shape with some minor chipping. The ambrotype shows a seated soldier with Sergeant stripes. This photo came with a piece of paper identifying the soldier as Charles Allen.

Other items in the estate showed he was from Pennsylvania and the note said he died from effects of the war. I found out that a Sgt. Charles Allen of the 53rd Regiment died of illness in 1865. This is a great piece of Civil War history in incredible condition and it is listed with no reserve. Please follow my other auctions.
