Up for your consideration is this wonderful ambrotype image of an unknown Union soldier from the Civil War. He is wearing a nine button tunic and great slouch hat. Of particular interest is the pistol he is posing with.

It appears to be a Sharps four barrel in. 30 caliber possibly a number 2 Sharps. It is unusual to pose with such a small pistol. The image is in excellent condition with his features nicely tinted and his buttons gilted. The case has seen some hard treatment. The gold framing and glass are perfect. The size of the image is 2 and 5/8 by 3 and 1/4 inches. A wonderful addition to any collection!
