Original circa 1863 ninth-plate (1/9) ruby ambrotype of a. FEMALE Civil War Cavalry soldier. Throughout, including a "US" on the belt buckle. There were over 400 documented cases. Themselves as men and many more that were never documented. Everything about this soldier seems feminine.

Close look at the hair, the jawline. All very feminine physical features.

Feminine looking than the famous female. Soldiers Jennie Hodgers and Frances Clayton. Her coat fit doesn't look quite right - it looks a bit. One disguised female soldier of note was Mary Owens Jenkins. Of the 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry.

I'm not saying this is Mary. I could not find a photo of her online, but Owens supposedly.

Joined the service to be with a man she loved. She used the Alias John Evans. And Mary/John stays in Service. Abraham Jenkins, whom she did.

Marry, was also in the 9th PA. Little white dots are just dust particles on my scanner or on. The image is super nice, sharp and clear. Small spot by her face, as shown, otherwise absolutely.

No other issues of note. Boxed Priority Express, which is overnight to most locations.
