[CIVIL WAR; BELLE GROVE; CEDAR CREEK] PHOTOGRAPH WITH CDVs OF JUBAL EARLY AND PHILIP SHERIDAN. Title: [CIVIL WAR; BELLE GROVE; CEDAR CREEK] PHOTOGRAPH WITH CDVs OF JUBAL EARLY AND PHILIP SHERIDAN. Description: Two cdv's of the opposing generals at the Battle of Cedar Creek, superimposed on a photograph of a drawing of Belle Grove Mansion; rather crudely lettered underneath "Belle Grove Mansion; Cedar Creek Battlefield"; together in a near contemporary frame which has some edge loss. A commemoration of the battle which was the culmination of the Valley Campaigns of 1864 in which General Early led a surprise attack against Sheridan's army, initially successfully, though a Union counterattack routed Early's army and a substantial victory was won by the Union forces. We have not removed the cdv's from the frame and thus cannot attest to the presence or not of backmarks.
