A very nice mounted albumen image taken in 1864 by photographer John C. The image, taken near West Point, New York, features Union Civil War Generals Ambrose E. The 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" albumen image is attached to a mount measuring about 9 1/2 x 6 1/4. The other men are Colonel Osborne (on the far left) and W. Photographer Browne is known to have written of the encounter.
Both Anderson & Burnside were much interested in examining the negative and after a close inspection by the latter, Anderson said, There are no flies on your head this time Burney. This remark by Anderson was brushed out by the caricature of Burnside that represented his bald head covered with insects. After a pleasant chat the party drove to West Point and it was the last time I saw either of the distinguished officers. The image is in excellent condition as shown, with some even toning throughout.
