CIVIL War Armed CDV Photo IDD Massachusetts Officer

  
Private Abner Mott of Barre, Massachusetts enlisted as a private in the 21st Mass Volunteer Infantry in 1861. He was wounded at the Battle of Bethseda Church, Virginia June 2, 1864, but survived and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant 36th Mass Infantry, serving until the War's end.

An original Civil War CDV photo full standing view with him gripping his drawn cavalry saber with nice detail of his sash, infantry insignia on his kepi & rank strap on his frock coat. The photo reverse imprint is by J. Aiken, Ware, Massachusetts, and pencil identified'Abner Mott. The CDV was part of a group of IDD images of Mott & his family from the Mott estate.

Comes w service info for Mott who fought with the 21st Mass at Chantilly, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Spottsylvania, and Bethseda Church and the Battle of Poplar Springs, Petersburg, Virginia with the 36th Mass. Postwar he resided in Barre, and Greenwich, Mass. Edge wear, age stains, reverse w glue stain from missing revenue stamp, Overall VG.
