It also appears that he is wearing a holster or knife at his side. There is also a 5 point star on his hat. Per internet research, he was born in New York in 1840 and died in 1924 in Blue Earth Minnesota where he is buried. His gravestone is on the Find A Grave website and also marked Company D Minn.The words grandson-of-an-ironworker are only on the online images only. Please review Condition Description noted above.
