Provenance - hand written "Commissary 1st Brigade 2nd Cavalry Division taking leave of the Department near WINCHESTER, VA (dated) APRIL 1, 1865". Photo depicts commissary camp quarters canvas tent over log structures. Sign on front of tent reads Subsistence substinance? Union soldiers posing for the camera. Oval photo measures 8" height & 9" width.
