Civil War Tintype of Union Infantry Private in Gutta-percha Box Case

  

The case has a wonderful scroll and leaf border carved design and cannon and flag design on one side and flower and scroll design on the back side. This soldier looks like a Union Private. He has an 1861 enlisted frock coat, and 1858 forge cap. I cannot see an insignia on his cap, his coat appears to be a little lighter than the other Union Private, it could be blue which would be infantry, but its difficult to tell for certain. The box case measures 3" X 2 1/2".
