Rare sitting, this original CDV of Reverend Cyrus Bartol (left) and Reverend Henry Bellows, taken by J. Cyrus Augustus Bartol was a Unitarian minister, author, and member of the Transcendental Club. He graduated from Harvard Divinity School in 1835 and promptly became a Transcendentalist who sought to infuse vitality and Spirit into the Unitarian church and liberate it from unnecessary forms and rituals. Reverend Bellows graduated from Harvard University in 1832.

He then attended the Cambridge Mass. Divinity School, graduating in 1837. On 2 January 1838, he became the pastor of the First (Unitarian) Congregational Church in New York City, later named All Souls Church. He was a well known speaker and author.

He served as head of the board of managers of the United States Sanitary Commission. CDV is 4" x 2.5" and in excellent antique condition.
