Rare Civil War CDV of US Navy Admiral George C. Read Veteran of War of 1812
Pictured in this uncredited CDV view is US Navy Admiral George C. Born in 1788, Read was a veteran of the War of 1812 and the Second Barbary War. At the time of the Civil War he commanded the Philadelphia Naval Asylum. Admiral Read passed away in August 1862. Measures about 2 1/2" x 4".
