Pharam's Decatur CDVs can be seen on the civilwaralbum website. (Sorry I wasn't allowed to post the actual link) The six CDVs in this collection include. One CDV shows the Pontoon Bridge at Decatur.
It has a faint hand written description on the bottom. Another of the CDVs shows the building of breastworks.
There is a wonderful image stacked rifles. There are two CDVs of street scenes. I assume that they are of Decatur but they may be of a neighboring community.
One image is a very scarce CDV of recently freed slaves called "Contrabands" during the Civil War. The images shows a procession of recently freed Slaves. On the very bottom of the CDV written in pencil is the word "Contrabands". Most known images of Civil War Contrabands show them in a camp and not fleeing to it. These period Civil War photographs were discovered in a box of old family photos.Of the two dozen Civil Wars CDVs found in the box of family photographs were 14 CDV portraits of soldiers. Most of them have been identified and were part of the 102nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry and were at the Battle of Decatur. There was also a CDV of a sailor and a Tinclad Gunboat identified as the USS General Grant. The USS General Grant patrolled the Tennessee River and took part in the Battle of Decatur.
Please check out my other listings. I considered listing all six CDVs separately but I decided that they have all been together over 150 years and that maybe they should all stay together. These images are far beyond my field of expertise or my range of photography collecting. So I was unable to come up with a fair price. So my decision is to let the market determine the price.
There is an archive article online from the Decatur Daily News regarding the same CDV with the stacked rifles. The CDV in that article is the exact same image and hand written on it is "Fatigue Party of the 10th Iowa, Decatur".
The September 07 2009 article contains description of the photograph as Union Troops raising the city and also includes a kind of timeline of events in Decatur during the Civil War. The article quotes the owner of the Civil War Museum in Decatur stating it is an extremely rare picture. I wasn't able to post a link here, but if you do a google search for'Decatur Daily News September 07 2007' you will be able to find the article.
