We have collected Ambrotypes and civil war artifacts for almost 40 years and have experienced about 90% of all Ambrotypes and Tintypes are standard portraits. It is Extremely RARE & Most Desirable, to collectors in particular, to discover an "Occupational" Ambrotype photo of a mid 19th century subject such as this Fiddle Player (possibly Cajun)! Size: a Rare Large Quarter Plate, about 3.25x 4.25. Quarter plate ambrotype of a possible Cajun man with fiddle. Quarter plate ambrotype of a gentleman, possibly Cajun, wearing a tall hat, seated in a studio, displaying his fiddle. (Few nicks, scratches in plate).
Housed in full, pressed paper case (fully separated at spine, some surface wear and areas of loss at spine and corners).
