Wounded at Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863, WILLIAM V. HOPKINS was 28 when he enlisted on Oct. 14, 1861, at Otego, NY, as a Private. He mustered into K Co. New York 76th Infantry and was discharged on Dec.

17, 1864, at Albany, NY. Offering a Civil War photograph album, presented to Hopkins, as noted on the front board in gold lettering with the date of 1864.

The album contains 25 CDVs along with seven gem tin types. Most are not identified and we are unable to determine if Hopkins' image is contained in the album.

Two men who fought at Gettysburg are clearly identified. One is Edgar Eaman along with his wife. Eaman enlisted on August 20, 1862 and mustered into F Co. New York 111th Infantry, also a Gettysburg regiment. The regiment fought at Gettysburg, redeeming itself after having surrendered at Harper's Ferry in 1862.

The 111th went on to fight in many other major eastern battles, including Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and Appomattox. A second soldier identified is Francis C. Loomis, appears in a gem tin type. He mustered into D Co. Pennsylvania 33rd Infantry on May 30, 1861 and mustered out on June 17, 1863. The 33rd fought at Gettysburg on July 2. The soldiers took part in McCandless Brigade across the Wheatfield toward the Rose Woods, driving back the Confederate troops.

A cdv of Ulysses S. Grant holding a toddler is housed in the album. Is housed in the album.

The remaining images are an eclectic combination of unidentified people, possibly representing people who were familiar with Hopkins. Some scuffing and cracking to the spine and light foxing on the frames.

Our goal is to please every customer.
