CDV sits in plastic casing that measures approximately 5 1/8" x 3". Handwritten in pencil on bottom of card: Hancock. CDV has markings on the front of the card as shown in my attached pictures. The case has surface scratches, residue, and cracks in the plastic.The scratches that appear in my pics are on the plastic, not on the CDV. He served with distinction in the Army for four decades, including service in the Mexican-American War and as a Union general in the American Civil War. Known to his Army colleagues as "Hancock the Superb". He was noted in particular for his personal leadership at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
