Here we offer a Civil War-era cdv photograph of President Abraham Lincoln, framed in a striking period 19th century maroon velvet mourning frame. The cdv is a less-commonly reproduced mock-up using Matthew Brady's January 8, 1864 photograph, setting the president's head within a traditional oil portrait. The cdv was produced as a memorial just after the president's assassination. The frame is set with true wavy glass.

Which is the kind of sheet glass made prior to modern methods, featuring visible imperfections and a slight wavy lay. It has a jagged edge, but fits the frame fine. Original wire hanger on the back of the frame.

The velvet is well worn and one of the metal corners has a slight crease. The wood at the top of the rear compartment has a chip. The back slides in and out with ease.
