Union general (18261885) hailed at the beginning of the Civil War as the Young Napoleon, who was defeated for the presidency in 1864 by Abraham Lincoln. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by Gardner of McClellan in uniform, signed in the lower border in black ink.

A few scattered surface dings and marks, light silvering to darker areas, and a couple edge and corner bumps, otherwise fine condition.
