Important Civil War 1862 Fraktur Signature QUILT Antique 30 Names Family Photo. An early quilt with fraktur hand written signatures. Dated 1862 in several places with 30 names. The family later moved to Nebraska. The quilt traveled with them. Years later the quilt traveled back to Pennsylvania. It wasn't ever used, but carefully stored away and treasured by the family. I was able to get a family photo of the old homestead. Which will be included with the sale.

I just love to find quilts made like this with hand written fraktur style lettering. Fancy calligraphy that we just don't ever see in many quilts and very special to find from this era. Names include several from the Swartz, Emrick and Candy families. Many are hand written in the old style, some are embroidered and others have pencil markings. The fabrics are also a treasure to find with turkey reds, madders, overdye greens, ombre, browns and pinks.

In a bears paw design. Measures 95 x 80 inches.

Hand quilted at 8 stitches per inch. Edges are turned and hand sewn. Crisp, never used or washed. Has scattered age/other spotting tanning. 30 pictures to enjoy in this quilt show!
