American Civil War Union Cavalry Soldier Ambrotype Gutta Percha Sword Pistol

  

Up for your consideration is this wonderful Gutta Percha Cased ambrotype image of a young Union Cavalry Trooper. He is in full gear with cavalry sword and what appears to be a large Colt pistol.

He is wearing his regulation kepi, sword belt and buckle. He has a holster but his pistol is stuck in his belt. The image is somewhat faded but clear and the gold frame and glass are in good shape. The velvet mat needs to be re-glued. The case is in good condition but there is a large chip out of one of the covers (see photos).

It measures 3 by 3 and 1/2 inches. A really great image and a wonderful addition to any collection! I will answer any questions you might have regarding this image to the best of my ability, so please write.
