Antique Civil War Era Photo 1/4 Plate Tintype Standing Sergeant with Sword Used. Great Civil War Period Photograph. Type: Ferrotype aka Tintype with brass mat, preserver and protective glass. Subject: Serious Soldier stands using his sword as a brace (looks like an NCO sword to me). Sergeant Chevrons visible on his sleeves. Sticker on back marked "Estate of Elsie Grace Oakwood Ohio". Nice Addition to Any Military Photograph Collection! Please Note: We have recently acquired a large collection of Civil War Images, 19th Century Thermoplastic "Union" and other Cases, and other various 19th Century Images. Image shows a few mild bends and scratching with some small black spots scattered across the top left corner.
Unsure, but may have had a cleaning in the past. Brass mat and preserver show heavy patina spots.
