Original CDV of Lincoln from the Mathew Brady negative, showing him sitting at a table on which sit an ink well and his upturned top hat with a rare studio imprint for Lincoln images, Perkins & Foss of San Francisco. Also on the back is a 2-cent revenue stamp, hand-cancelled with the initials "P&F" and "Apr".. I don't see a number following the April but I'd say it's probably pretty likely this firm published this image immediately after the assassination of April 15, 1865. Overall the CDV is in excellent condition, though the mount appears very slightly trimmed by probably no more than 1/16th on the top and/or edges. Three of the sides look pretty straight, so to be honest I'm not 100% sure they are trimmed at all, but as stated the CDV is not exactly 4" x 2.5".
