Type: Ferrotype aka Tintype with brass mat, preserver and protective glass. Subject: Private Peter Guess, 4th Pennsylvania Cavalry Company B poses with sword in front of a patriotic painted backdrop. The image has tinted, particularly noticeable on the backdrop. Comes with a large collection of printed documents relating to Peter Guess' Widow and her filing for Pension, including affidavits to his injury/death etc. Nice Addition to Any Photograph and/or Civil War Collection!

These large copies of the documents were all produced at the National Archives. Please Note: We have recently acquired a large collection of Civil War Images, 19th Century Thermoplastic "Union" and other Cases, and other various 19th Century Images. Image shows some mild scratching and wear from age, and some notable mat abrasions. Brass mat and frame show moderate patina.
