A hard to find albumen carte-de-visite of Confederate General Thomas Hart Taylor, from the studio of E. The original photographer is unknown, but the portrait was made sometime after November 1862 when he was promoted to brigadier general, as his uniforms shows him as a brigadier. The Anthonys collected scores of portraits of former Confederate generals immediately after the end of the war, and issued them under their own backmarks. Taylor was a Kentuckian, a Mexican War veteran, and enlisted in the 1st Kentucky Confederate Infantry at the outbreak of war in 1861.
