Civil War CDV Maj. George McGown & CDV Wife -1862 Squirrel Hunters Campaign Ohio
Rare piece of Ohio Civil War History for the advanced collector. Autographed Signed Carte de Visite of Bvt. George McGown US Army Regular who was a Mustering Officer for a civilian army (Known as the Squirrel Hunters) to help defend Ohio in September of 1862 from a threatened attack by Kirby Smith. Included in this listing: A CDV of McGown's Wife. It is signed Your Affectionate "Auntie Mac" - taken at the very same studio in Columbus Ohio.
Interestingly, they both even signed the reverse of their cards upside down in reference to the studio logo. Links referencing McGown with Paulsens Independent Battery for one months service.
