Civil War Carte de visite of Union Captain Edward C Palmer of Brookly NY. Served as a Private in the 13th NY, which was originally a Coastal Artillery Regiment from 5/62-9/62, then served in the 56th NY from 6/63-7/63, the regiment being Emergency Troops mustered in due to Lee's invasion of Pennsylvania that led to Gettysburg. The regiment was sent to Pa to serve under the troops being put together by General Couch in Harrisburg Pa. Until the emergency was over with the defeat of Lee by Meade.
