DETAILS: Original tintype photo portraiture of a female prostitute. At the time such poses were considered to be highly provocative. Most likely taken at a brothel somewhere for a patron who wanted a memento of his visit. Because of the prohibitive costs of photography at the time, only very wealthy patrons could afford such a luxurious souvenir. Original photographs of sex worker from this era are exceptionally rare.
