Rare Civil War CDV Photo Confederate Encampment at Louisiana Medical College
Up for sale is this estate fresh CDV image of a confederate encampment in front of the Louisiana Medical College in New Orleans. In the months following Louisiana's secession from the Union, scores of military units were formed in the state of Louisiana. Most volunteers traveled to the New Orleans area to be mustered into Confederate service. While there, several New Orleans photographers recorded their images. Some local photographers even departed with the troops, trading their cameras for arms.
The card measures 4" by 2 1/2" and was photographed by McPherson & Oliver of 132 Canal St New Orleans. The photo is in good condition for its age, there is some light wear and staining (please see photos) but overall presents very well. This great Louisiana Civil War period image would make an excellent addition to any collection. These are the charges you will pay. This is not something I can do anything about.
