Identified and inscribed M1851 Civil War eagle sword belt buckle and a photo postcard. The sword buckle is inscribed on the back ARC Groom Mar 1860.
It is also bench marked 106. It was coated with lacquer or something similar. It came with an early photo postcard of two old gentlemen standing in front of a business.
They are on either side of a sign that reads FAIRBANKS SCALE FAIRBANKS MORSE & CO KANSAS CITY. The gentleman on the left has an arrow over his head with a G. Below him is Arch Groom.
Below the other gentleman is Elliot. On the back of the post card it reads Arch Groom Norma this Great Grand father Mr Elliot.
Arch Groom is listed as also seeing service in Company C of the Missouri Gentry Co. In the American Civil War research Database. It does not say what the other service he saw was though. They are a neat pair of relics for your collection. The pictures are accurate as to their condition.
