1860s Glass Negative CDV PHOTOGRAPH of MAN in CIVIL WAR era CHAIR w SIDEBURNS
Glass plate photographic negative (just under 2 ¾" by 3 ¼") of a man seated in a chair, circa 1860s. The negative shows a well dressed man with admirable side burns seated in a Civil War era upholstered chair. The man is not identified, but this image was likely made in a photographic studio in New England or the Northeast U. And would have been used to print albumen photographs in carte-de-visite format. I used a free photo software program to make a positive digital image of the negative. The quality of this positive image I made isn't great but does show that the negative can produce a good print. The glass negative is in good or better condition with no cracks or breaks. A very rare Civil War era photographic negative for a carte-de-visite photograph!
