1865 Massachusetts Cadet Corps Composite Photo. This is an unusual composite photograph of the 100 members of the Mass. Cadet Corps (as written in an early hand at the bottom). Davis written at the top. On the back is written "1865", and Mrs. The photo is 5 x 7.5", mounted on a 10 x 12" sheet with printed borders. Mount is soiled, the photos faded. This is likely the First Corps of Cadets of Massachusetts, originally formed in 1741, which was an important officer-producing unit through World War II.

During the Civil War, they furnished officers for the 2d, 20th and 24th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiments as well as for other organizations. Some 170 cadets were commissioned as officers, five of whom attained the rank of brigadier general. (Veteran Association of the First Corps of Cadets).
